Have you ever had your PC open a file with the wrong application? Well, Digital Trends shows us how to make sure that never happens again.
How to Change One File
These 4 steps show how to change a single file type with just the “Open with” menu.
Step 1: Right-click on the file you want to change the association for.
Step 2: Select Open with.
Step 3: Windows suggests an app or a list of apps as the default for that specific file type. Select Always use this app to open [file type] files.
Step 4: Click OK.
How to Change Any and All Files
This is for those looking to change a few or even all files. This is done from the “Settings” menu.
Step 1: Press the Windows key and “X”, and select Settings.
Step 2: Click on Apps from the list.
Step 3: Select Default apps.
Step 4: Select Choose default apps by file type.
Step 5: Find the file type you wish to change for the file association.
Step 6: Choose the application of your preference.
That’s it. You’re done. Your file associations have changed.
