Robocalls are truly a curse of our modern times. Chances are that you or someone close to you has been harassed by these fraudulent telemarketing calls that tell you that you’ve won a free cruise to the Bahamas or need to update your Google listing.
Stopping those calls from reaching you is extremely difficult from a regulatory perspective. That’s because they’re made mostly by fraudsters who, by definition, couldn’t care less about rules and regulations. Especially since they’re often calling from abroad, using fake numbers.
Unlike legitimate companies, these scammers pay absolutely no attention to the Do Not Call Registry. Which means that we’re, essentially, left to our own devices. What can we do? iDrop News has a few ideas for us.
Your Best Options to Stop Them
“Luckily, if you’ve found yourself on the receiving end of (too many) of these calls, there are a number of things you can try to stop them, or at least, slow them down,” says iDrop News‘ Mike Peterson. According to him, mobile phone users should try the following solutions:
- Use Your Carrier’s Built-In Service
- Try Blocking the Number
- Use a Third-Party App
- Activate Do Not Disturb
