When we move, one of the biggest hassles is going to be changing our address with everyone and anyone who needs it. Feeling a little overwhelmed at the sheer amount of people to notify? It’s all about taking your time.
Make it simpler
As noted in Homedit’s article, “The Final Answer To, ‘How To Change My Address’ ”, it’s no longer quite as simple as it used to be to change your address. Everyone has different parameters and conditions attached to it. Here are some tips to help you out.
- Start early: If you can, start updating your address early. You can let them know what date the change will take place, and starting early helps you get ahead of the panic.
- Focus on government, utilities and medical professionals first: You should start with government agencies (taxation, DMV, social security, etc.), utilities (electricity, gas, water) and medical professionals (doctors, dentists, etc.) first since those are the crucial ones that you don’t want going to someone else.
- Make a list (and work through it): From shopping to magazines to subscriptions, take a moment and make a list of all of the places that you think have your address. Change a few every day, and you’ll find that getting everything changed is faster and easier than you would think!
